Program Name : Old Spice® Red Zone Player of the Year Program
Program Sponsor : Old Spice® Red Zone deodorant
Mission : To motivate, inspire and recognize varsity high school football players who show outstanding athletic performance, strong leadership, and the will to win in the Red Zone – the area of the football field between the 20-yard line and the goal line.
Participation : More than 10,000 high school football programs nationwide
Inception : 2001
Program details : Participating schools receive product samples, press releases, other support materials, and posters for use in the locker room (to recognize team winners). Participating coaches name a weekly Red Zone Player of the Week after each game. We encourage the media to recognize these winners for their efforts.
At the end of the season, participating coaches nominate one Player of the Year from their teams. That player will represent his team and receive a certificate to commemorate his achievement, and will be eligible to become one of our 50 national winners.
Old Spice Red Zone Players of the Year : All Player of the Year nominees will be considered by our awards committee for the honor of being one of our 50 Old Spice Red Zone Players of the Year. In addition to receiving a plaque and logoed fleece, the 50 national winners will be honored in a full-page ad in USA Today in February 2009, coinciding with the publication's National Letter of Intent Signing Day coverage.
