ALUMNI PLAYER OF THE WEEK - November. 17 , 2008

The last time Oregon State made the Rose Bowl was 1965. Thanks to a freshman running back, the Beavers control their own destiny in a chance to break the dry spell.

Jacquizz Rodgers (Class of 2007) carried the ball 27 times for his second straight 144-yard game in the Beavers’ 34-21 win over Cal. Thanks to their upset of Southern Cal earlier this season, the Beavers will win the Pac 10 and earn the Rose Bowl berth if they win their last two games.

Rodgers put Oregon State ahead to stay in the first quarter, breaking a 7-7 tie with a two-yard touchdown run.

Rodgers is leading the conference in rushing with 1,233 yards and 11 touchdowns on 255 carries.

Rodgers isn’t letting the success he has had as a rookie get to him.

Teams who have registered online for the Red Zone Player of the Year program can track their team's statistics online throughout the season:

• Use it as a full-featured method of keeping track of your team's stats all season

• Print out reports for your coaching staff, players, and media

• Provide your team a username and password, so they can view their stats any time, day or night

• See how your players rank against national leaders

Program Details

Once your team is in the Red Zone Player of the Year program, you can name a weekly Red Zone Player of the Week for your team. This should be a player who stood out for his play in the Red Zone. You'll also be able to honor that player on a locker-room poster we supplied.

At the end of the season, coaches can nominate a Red Zone Player of the Year. That player will receive a certificate acknowledging his achievement, and be considered for our team of 50 national Red Zone players of the year.

If you've registered your team online, you can nominate your players for these honors online, and we'll notify your local media for you!
